A return

[Reks]

When Reks slowly walked through the massive iron south gate of the city of Rabanaste, he breathed a sigh of relief and his shoulders sagged. He had walked all the way from the Feywood to here; through the Golmore Jungle, the Ozmone Plains and then the Giza Plains, trying to avoid all mosters since he no longer had a weapon.

And then, when he had finally made it to the city, it had taken forever to get though the line of people trying to get into the city; all the travelers, traders, hunters, and visitors, it seemed like everybody was trying to get into Rabanastre these days. His legs felt so sore that he thought he could collapse any moment... but at least now he was in.

He glanced over his shoulder. "Where to now?" he asked seemingly thin air.

"You must find your brother. Don't you want to see him again? a strange voice asked that no one but Reks could hear.

"Oh yes. Vaan," Reks remembered. He was looking forward to seeing his little brother again, and where else did he have to go anyway? His parents were dead; Vaan was the only family he had left.

He thought that Vaan would probably be at Penelo's house or something, so he headed off towards shopping part of town; wondering if he could remember where Penelo's house was. The invisible specter floated behind.

[Fran]

A viera made her way through the streets of Rabanastre,she had come here with Balthier of course but she had told him she would go on ahead.With one hand on her hip,she had entered through the same gate as Reks but didn't bother to take notice of any of the people coming and going.This was going to be simple,get some supplies and head back out but she also wanted to check up on her old friends.

They had travelled together,but it's been so long since she last saw them.Her bow on her back,her heels clicking against the streets she pushed pass some Seeq's who just seemed to be laughing it up right in the middle of a crowd.Finally she had reached the shopping district,her eyes then fell on a young man that stood out in the crowd different from other's perhaps he needed guideance.

"Are you perhaps lost,are you looking for someone".

Her face stood emotionless,but hid the concern she had for someone who was lost.This was a big city and easy to get lost in,if you didn't know your way around.Keeping her hand on her hip,she waited for the young man to say something.

[Reks]

Reks had just been standing in the middle of the shopping district, looking around and trying to remember where Penelo lived, when someone one asked him a question out of nowhere. Reks was startled by being addresses by a stranger and so almost jumped out of his shoes.

When he calmed down slightly he looked at the person who had spoken. She was quite tall, with long white hair and brown skin, and had rabbit ears. A Viera, he assumed. He hadn't seen many before, but he recognised their defining characteristics.

"Oh... ah... I'm not lost," he said. He had after all grown up here, he just seemed to have forgotten some of the details of the place. "I just... I am looking for someone... my brother; Vaan. I um... haven't been here in a while, I came to visit him... but I have forgotten where he lives," he blushed at how stupid that must sound.

"Um... maybe you've seen him around? He has... kinda short blond hair and blue eyes and he a little younger than me..." he internally kicked himself. He was hopeless at describing things, and this person had probably not seen Vaan anyway. Why was he even bothering?

[Fran]

"You said you are looking for Vaan".

Did he just say brother,she did remember Vaan getting angry at Basch when they released him from that cell.The blonde youth went on screaming that Basch killed his brother Reks,but if this was Reks and he had died how can he be standing here having a conversation with herself.The dead can't come back to life it was impossible,but why would this young man lie to her.

"Is your name perhaps Reks".`

That same expression stayed on her face,as she waited for him to answer.Fran would need to tell Balthier about this later when he caught up,but for now the viera grabbed the young man lightly and escorted him into the Sandsea which was nearby.Opening the door and dragging him inside,then going over to a corner before speaking once more.

"I know your brother Vaan,but he said you we're dead so how is it you stand here talking".

Vaan wandered through the streets of Rabanstre. Penelo wasnt around because she was busy taking care of something for Miguelo so he decided to go walk around. He normally would go hang out with Kytes or Old Dalan in Lowtown, but he spent so much time down there lately he just wanted to go and see the city itself for once.

"Hmm I wonder if Tomaj as something for me. Might as well go and check at the Sandsea now."

Vaan walked through town and headed over there. He knew all the shortcuts in the city from growing up here. He could get there much faster now. He opened the door and looked around for Tomaj. He yelled out for him so he could find him better with all these people here.

"Hey Tomaj! Are you here?"

[Reks]

"Ur... yeah, I'm Reks... but how do you know my name?" he asked with confusion. But before he could say anything else the viera dragged him into the Sandsea.

Then she explained. "You know Vaan? But how...?" he asked, "Oh... And I... don't really know; I just suddenly appeared in this large wood, and then came here to find Vaan,” he explained as answer to her question. He had no idea why he was alive again, or if he had really died in the first place… he had just kind of fallen asleep and then woken up in the Feywood.

And he head a voice call out loudly from the doorway, and turned his head towards it. When he saw who it was that had been yelling, his eyes widened. “Vaan…” he said, turning towards his brother. He took one look back at Fran before starting to slowly walk off towards the door.

[Fran]

"You could say I travelled with him".

She then turned towards the door,seeing the blonde walk in and start yelling.Did he always have to cause such a scene,seeing Reks start to walk towards his brother she did nothing to stop him.The viera wanted to see how this would turn out,how would Vaan react to his brother being flesh and blood in front of him and alive to boot.Strolling over to a nearby table,she took a seat and crossed one leg over the other.

"This shall be interesting to watch".

[Penelo]

Penelo rushed through the streets of Rabanstre. Her job for Miguelo was done and she definitely wasn't going to stay there for the rest of the day. Besides it was good to be out in the shopping district. Now if she could only find Vaan. She felt slightly lonely and really wanted to see him. She had a good feeling that Vaan must be in the streets of Rabanstre.

Penelo hurried by young boys that where playing. A man who was selling strange looking beads. She finally stopped at a young women who seemed to be in trance on the side of the street. She stoof perfectly still, her brown dress flying in the breeze. Penelo walked over to the woman and waved. "Hello?" She said to the woman's face. The female turned to look at Penelo. "Yes?" She said. Her voice was light and high. It sounded almost like she was singing. "Is something the matter?"

"No. No. I was just wondering why you where standing there all alone? Are you waiting for someone?" Penelo looked at the woman again. She seemed strangely familiar.

"Yes. I guess you could say that." The woman returned to her still position. "Are you looking for Vaan?"

Penelo looked surprised. "Yes. But how did..."

"He's looking for Tomaj. Go find him!" With that, the woman waved her arms and a big cloud of dust arose. Penelo had to close her eyes. When she opened them again, the woman was gone.

"How strange.." Penelo said. She looked around. Everyone else was going on with their lives. She should too. With one last stare, Penelo headed off to the place that the strange lady had told her. She really left lonely now and hoped she would find Vaan soon.

Vaan looked around and almost collapsed. He saw his Brother Reks for the first time in years. He couldnt beleive it. He completly forgot that it was impossible for him to come back from the dead. He just cared that his brother was back to him

"Reks?...Is that...Is that really you?"

He slowly walked over to his brother. He saw Fran behind him but didnt care at the moment. Something seemed different about him, Vaan just didnt know what. He didnt care right now and waited to see if his brother would respond.

[Reks]

Reks stopped in front of his brother and smiled, nodding his head. "Yes Vaan, it's me," he said in a quiet voice, looking into the blond boy's eyes. He wondered if Vaan would actually belive it, or take it as being a trick. But Reks didn't know if he could cope if Vaan rejected him. The boy meant everything in the world to him.

His little brother looked different then before, and seemed different in other ways as well. But at the same time he also seemed the same, the same as the last time that Reks saw him in the hospital, the same as when they had run around the city together as children; the same as he had always been. And for that Reks was glad.

[Fran]

It seemed all was going well with the reunion,Vaan seemed a little surprised though to see his brother alive and well.Fran motioned for a drink,she might as well do something while waiting for her partner to catch up.The viera had a feeling someone else was coming to join this little reunion,a certain other blonde who she had also met during her travels back then.After all it was her and Vaan that had kept the Strahl in tact,that is until she and Balthier came and stole it back from them.

It was abit rude Vaan didn't say hi,they hadn't run into eachother for awhile and he has nothing to say.Perhaps it was for the best,besides it must be alot to take in to see her and Balthier had survived that explosion from the Bahamut.When he drink came,she just sat there continuing to watch the brothers a hint of a smile on her lips.

Vaan looked at him and smiled. He was glad to see him. He grabbed Reks' cheeks to see if he really was alive and not some illusion. "It really is you." He hugged his brother for the first time in a long time. He was beginning to realize about how his brother couldnt be here normally, but he pushed it aside for a moment. He also felt there was something different about Reks, but he pushed that aside as well. He just assumed it was because he was back after a long time.

[Balthier]

Balthier had just made his entry after exiting a weapons shot. He was counting the gil he had earned from selling his old guns to the weapons smith and to his surprised had earn a pretty gil for it too.
His emerald orbs sparkling with glee at just how much he had made on old weapons.

He had separated from Fran for just a few moments, stating to the Viera he would catch up and he was doing so now before he heard the shouts of familiar voices and his peered up from his wad of gil and saw Vaan, Penelo, Fran and some new chap that looked the same age as Vaan only....not be be rude, alot gayer. Who wore armor that covered your chest but not your stomach nor your back. A bit foolish if you asked the sky pirate..but then again, Ashe never wore anything that seemed to protect her either.... and then his eyes fell of Fran..well...Fran ...was..different. She could protect her own...and Balthier made sure to protect her if he needed too.

As he comes closer, he couldn't help but tuck his gil away and clap his hands together rapidly just to get in the sport of the mood.
"Ah..look, a entire reunion. Now..who are we missing? Basch and Ashe, yes?" his arms swoop out and wrap around Reks and Vaan in a good hearted bear hug, before releasing and looks at Reks before Vaan, then Reks once more and he cocks an eyebrow. ".....Oh..you must be the dead brother of little goldie locks here." he ruffles Vaan's hair up with a sly smirk.

"But it seems your alive now... So..It seems Vaan has nothing else to whine about." he teases.

[Reks]

Reks' eyebrows shot up almost to his hair line when Vaan suddenly grabbed his cheeks. But he closed his eyes and smiled again when his little brother hugged him, and he hugged the younger boy back tightly.

But just after they had broken apart from the embrace that someone grabbed them both in another hug. He almost chocked from surprise and the sever tightness of the hug. When the man let go Reks took a couple of steps away from him.

"Huh?" Reks thought out loud, looking up at the mysterious stranger as he cocked an eyebrow at him. And then he saw him ruffling Vaan's hair, so he knew that it must be one of his brother friends. But since when had his brother been going around making close friend with adults? Before he had only hung out with other children... maybe he should find out what had been happening to Vaan lately. He hadn't thought to ask him yet because he was so excited about seeing his brother again, but he made a mental note to try when he got the chance.

Reks smiled at the man's teasing. "So... you know Vaan?" he asked, wondering who the other two people he had mentioned were. His little brother sure must have been busy while he was away... he also wondered how long he had been away for. He thought he felt something move in the air behind him, but ignored it for the moment.

[Fran]

"Balthier let them have some time alone".

She uncrossed her leg,rising from her seat for a momment.It was only polite to let the two share a momment,after all it's been so long since Vaan has seen his older sibling.Fran had only brought Reks in here incase people began to talk,she was certain most people knew the two brother's quite well and questions would arise as to why one that was dead has come back to the living.The viera made her way over to her partner,putting a hand on her hip.

"Yes we know him quite well actually,Vaan has become a sky pirate".
